Not exactly a great work of art, this picture, but.
Over on the dutch_crafters group on Ravelry somebody asked for pictures of our hands ‘in action’. I took this one by balancing my camera on my knee, setting the timer, and hoping for the best.
I’m working an intarsia pattern (a skull, for those interested). I keep one strand of yarn in my right hand, English style, and let go of the right needle to ‘throw’ the strand around to knit a stitch (my index finger on the left hand holds the needle in place when I let go). I keep the other strand of yarn in my left hand, continental style, the yarn going over my index finger, under my middle and ring finger, and over my pinky - I do not need to let go to knit the stitch. This way I can knit intarsia without the strands getting tangled, and by performing a neat little trick with both strands at once I do not end up with floats in the back.
Also it looks pretty fucking crafty, doing that wizard-y magic-y thing with the two strands of yarn at the same time.
